Review – Voodoo Chronicles: The First Sign Collector’s Edition
Introduction
The game has nothing to do with black religious cult practices as one may think because of its name. Voodoo Chronicles: The First Sign containing of 9 long lasting chapters with plenty of diehard hidden object games and puzzles made on story of investigation by private detective Voodoo.
Hidden objects games are very flexible to fit into any genre as one example we have here, a highly adventurous model of the game made on Hollywood classic dramas of 40′s and 50′s of the last century. Distinctive feature of the game plot representing famous and well known style of “fiction” with crime and violence are widely used in many movies produced at that time in US.
Gameplay
While trying out the demo version it is better to play easy mode so the allocated short time will not be wasted on puzzles and searching for items in hidden objects but concentrating on game concepts and getting overall experience and impressions from this wonderful game.
This game looks is made inside of the movie when it starts with newspaper headlines cycling on screen, street car headlamps blinking into window of Voodoo’s room and running train inside of which you will be playing. Jumping off the train on the station, walking around the streets for another play, beating off wolfs, collecting items are very astonishing, entertaining and breathtaking.
Just few complains about the game. You always should know if taking easy or hard mode are really different to play and the game should tell you about that, that is not the case here. With hidden object games feels like going up and down in difficulty when moving from one to another scenery. Most of them are easy to play except for items hidden in farthest corners of the room.
Hints are really needed because some items are stressful to find. You will like the shape of cursor as it changes to small bolt. And flying circling sparks going to show you last items to find. But never try to use random clicking, thunder-like electrical discharge is risky pleasure for your ears. Solving a puzzle and seeing a small spy you will be granted with extra hints. They can be earned as you play and used to skip small games. Puzzles is where they have put a lot of work to make them attractive for playing. Leaving them is impossible because as just started you are in the game and want to finish it.
You will not get lost in the game with excellent embedded strategic guide with all tips.
Sound
Background voices and dialogs with accents derived from Europe are good for ears to hear while playing, they don’t bother but assisting and refreshing your mind set into the game essence. Music orchestration gives the rise for emotions and worries.
Graphics
Browned color and darkness are very impressing and create mood for adventures playing. Graphical colors are taken right to match the spirit of those criminal times, although using more of black color would create more effects. Cars from 60′s and folks dressed of that time look historically true to fact.
Conclusion
Nice choice for the gamer, play either hidden objects game, puzzles or watch the scenery of the investigation, cool, right? Sometimes it is not so easy to issue verdict over the game, but for this time I can’t underestimate its merits for playing with nice time spending. The more you play the deeper your enjoyment. As you get down to playing don’t forget to take a leak because it is very grabbing and adventurous game lasting many hours of sitting at your computer. Trying out demo version will not give full experience and chances are that you will be mislead, so try full version of the game.
