Review – Dreamland
Introduction
When I read the description of the Dreamland before download it, I was pleasantly impressed and was already looking forward as I can escape from all my problems and play exciting new hidden object game. But everything turned out differently.
Gameplay
The game’s plot: your brother is gone, we know that he went to a deserted park, which is called Dreamland. You go in search of your missing brother, into an amusement park. Through the whole game you will be pursued by angry dwarf, that collects in its fleet misguided souls of teenagers, whether his annoying voice, which eventually becomes annoying.
Mini-games are simple and sometimes even interesting. I personally liked the three-in-a-row, it’s my favorite mini game
. Games with hidden objects are rather complex, I rarely have enough patience to pick all the items by myself without using the hint.
In Dreamland there is no system passing through the levels, I always had to go back to previous locations to re-take any game, to find new useful items or for something else.
In general, the game is not complicated, the plot is not intricate – overcoming all obstacles to his brother, walk around in an abandoned park, neutralize the dwarf’s traps and solve puzzles. At first time it’s interesting, but closer to the middle it starts to annoy.
As for functionality – it’s all-right, no problems did not arise, everything works correctly.
It seems to me that the game claims to be a spooky and mysterious, since there are a lot of “terrible” and “evil” characters, but they are made not in very high quality, the game is perceived more as a child not as scary or mysterious.
As I have said there is nothing complicated in Dreamland but the boring mini-games with hidden objects, and this is probably the most important reason why this game is very quickly becoming bored. It took me an half hour of play to close it and remove it from your computer.
I think that the game is not implemented on time. In the year 2004 I would have taken it as better, but not in our time precisely.
Graphics
As I said, the game looks to be made in 2004, and in particular this applies to graphics. Do not argue, all is qualitatively drawn, hidden object mini-games are not allocated, and I really have to look for them, but I was not impressed, it looks boring and expressionless.
Movies in Dreamland made not in very high quality too, character animation does not match their speech. Interface graphics and menu graphics are the same as in the game, expressionless and plain, do not portend anything interesting.
Sound
Soundtrack to the game made in style of old horror movies, movies about vampires and evil clowns. I was particularly irritated by the voice of the evil dwarf, a harsh and squeaky, but certainly not terrible and frightening.Music is also not impressive, until I played I did not feel any passion play, and now when I remember it and write review I have no desire to sit down and play again.
Conclusion
There are a lot of games in the genre of hidden object that I will be happy to pass in the second and third time, despite the fact that I already know how events will unfold and where the hidden items are. Dreamland is not like them. Personally, I was hard to play after the first half hour, and even boring. To summarize – the game fairly average, and can be interesting for fans of the “evil clowns” and unpretentious horror stories.
