Review – Dream Inn: Driftwood
Interface
In Dream Inn: Driftwood interface built in very interesting way. Well drawn buttons, comfortable situation of all things you need in hidden object games around bottom of the screen. Everything is good except one, mouse cursor is standard, like in Windows. So score for interface 9/10.
Gameplay
Dream Inn: Driftwood surprised me so much with interesting game story and very exciting and unusual gameplay.
Game starts with the short introduction animated movie, that tells you about such philosophic things like dreams and life destination. Also you see “Your” scenes from the past, playing with kids on the shiny beach. As for me I was looking it with pleasure and I think it suits the game and it’s a good beginning.
There’s one more funny thing, an interesting way to tell your name. You write it not in the start menu, but in the beginning, after the movie. You sign the buying contract with your name, writing it down. Nice little thing.
Closer to the game. At the start you will be able to choose one of two game styles for skilled players, where you need to beat the clock and the chill out mode, for more steady game, with out timer.
Well, when you get to the hotel, you see that it’s appearance is poor. Of course, there are a lot of years past from the hotel’s best days. Hotel’s manager Emma Gray welcomes you to the hotel, and here’s the first puzzle – you should clean the room, finding out hidden objects. And news here too: you have only a list of objects, not their pictures. And here’s a new Hint system.
Hint’s now go in two ways, first click on hint shows the pictures of the objects instead of names, and after second click you will be able to choose on of five objects, that you want to be shown on your screen. You have limited quantity of hints in each level.
Also, you can use additional hints! It’s a brilliant idea released in Dream Inn: Driftwood: in each level you can find one of next objects:
1. Bomb – after the explosion you will see the five objects on your screen. All another objects and background will disappear for a second.
2. Emma’s Gray Cat – pat the cat, and five hidden object’s begin to tremble!
3. The magnet – find one of several magnets hidden on the level, and he will show you where are the object’s you are looking for, just point over the screen!
When you find an object you get a coin, which you can spend on repairing your hotel and purchasing new parts of exterior. Also pay attention to spy-glasses and gold coins in each level, they are useful too. All the game scenario includes cleaning up the rooms one after another and repairing and making up your hotel. After all rooms will be ready you will get a great surprise! Look at the key-board, where all room keys are placed, there’s a big keyhole, that’s a final surprise!
Gameplay cool and awesome! It’s the one of the best new hidden object games I have ever played! Score 10/10!
Graphics
I like Dream Inn: Driftwood in all ways, and graphics is not the exception. Everything look just real, all animations a good and both objects and background a well drawn, so it’s some times plenty hard to find needed objects. Introduction movie and character animations are brilliant, so 10/10!
Sound
Soundtrack in the game Dream Inn: Driftwood makes you feel yourself in the royal hotel, music is in high quality, and a new soundtrack for each level. For addition, there are special emotion sounds for most of object’s in the room. Characters are sounded good too. Score – 10/10.
Conclusion
Dream Inn: Driftwood is wonderful example of new hidden object games, there are not so much games I liked like this one, I consider, that after reading this article, you know why I love this game so much. Total score – 10/10!
